How does music emerge without a written score? How can we learn to trust our musical intuition, listen to others and create music in the moment?
The Lithuanian Harp Festival Baltic Echoes invites harpists to explore free improvisation with Estonian harpist, composer and improviser Liis Jürgens.
During the workshop, participants will explore exercises and create short improvised pieces based on the free improvisation teaching method developed by Anne-Liis Poll and Anto Pett, professors of improvisation at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
Through practical exercises, participants will develop their listening skills, musical responsiveness, creativity and confidence in spontaneous music-making. The workshop will also provide tools for further independent improvisation practice.
The workshop is open to harpists of all levels, from beginners to professionals. No previous experience or knowledge of improvisation is required.
The session will conclude with a short performance featuring the improvised pieces created during the workshop.
